About Me

Licensed as a nursing home administrator for over 20 years, I have been the administrator at Llanfair House in Wayne, New Jersey for over 8 years. In 2001, the Llanfair House team opened "The Front Porch", a dementia special care unit, the first one within the Saint Barnabas Health Care System. The Front Porch unit has received numerous awards and has been featured in "Advance For LPN's" and "The Star Ledger".

Prior to becoming a nursing home administrator, I was an Activities Director for 6 years. This experience led me to publish an activities textbook in 1996 through Thompson Publishing entitled, "Essentials For The Activity Professional In Long Term Care".

I have been a speaker at conferences including the Alzheimers Europe Conference in Ireland (2005) and Paris (2006), National Alzheimer's Assn Dementia Conference (2004, 2005, 2006), the New Jersey Alzheimer's Assocation Conference (2004 & 2006), National Activity Professional Conference (1997) and NJ Activity Professionals Association Conference in 2002, 2004, 2005 & 2006. I also spoke at a sales training at the "A Place For Mom" Family Advisors Conference in New Orleans.

My two newest books are: "Nurturing Nuggets For Dementia Caregivers: 25 Supportive Strategies In Caring For Persons With Dementia" and "Nurturing Nuggets For Nurses, both are available through Buttonberry Books via www.nurturingnuggets.com or amazon.
